(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / January 7, 2016) – Shelter-in-Place procedures were implemented earlier this morning at Sangre Elementary School in Stillwater. An upset father intentionally circumvented school check-in protocol and entered the school without proper authorization. The School Resource Officer was notified and the school was put on Shelter-in-Place status while the police and school administration responded. The parent was quickly contained and the Shelter-in-Place status was lifted.
The parent responded to the school after receiving and automated notification that his child was marked as absent when, in-fact, his child as in class. Check-in procedures are in place at every Stillwater School to control access as part of ensuring child safety.
