(Cushing, Okla.) The following information is a preliminary collision report furnished by the Department of Public Safety.

 

An injury Collision occurred on February 9th (2016), at 7:20 am, when a 2015 Bluebird school bus, driven by Roy Lee Gazaway (80) of Yale, went left of center, as it was northbound on Underwood Road, 2 miles south of SH51, and a 1/4 mile east – which is 2 miles south of the Yale city limits, in Payne County.

 

 
Gazaway, the driver of the school bus, took corrective action to the right, but then departed the roadway to the right, impacting the ditch, and going up an embankment. The bus struck a tree and rolled ΒΌ time, coming to rest on the driver side.

 

 
A total of nine passengers, all juveniles, were riding on the bus at the time of the collision. The Department of Public Safety report shows two of the nine passengers received head injuries, but refused treatment.

 

The Department of Public Safety report shows an unsafe speed for a gravel road as the cause of the collision.
