EPA Lead-Safe Certification Training Program
Did you know that as of April 22, 2010, federal law requires that under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule, Individuals working onsite doing renovation and repair to home must be formally trained in lead-safe work practices by an accredited training provider?
The Oklahoma Association of Community Action Agencies (OKACAA) is only one of three accredited EPA Lead-Safe Certification Program Training Providers in Oklahoma as of May, 2010 and offers the required Certified Renovator Training Course on a regular basis.
ECU’s VWIP is pleased to partner with OKACAA to provide this training free of charge to eligible veterans.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Certified Renovator Course is an eight-hour course taught in a classroom setting, and includes hands-on training in lead safe work practices.
· Participants will be tested on their ability to carry out lead safe work practices and also must pass a written exam.
· All training materials are included in the course.
· Each participant will receive an individual Certification Card or form within a few days following the course. The certification document must be maintained at the work site.
· OKACAA will maintain documentation of each person certified and also provide that information to the EPA as required by law. Certification will be good for 5 years.
