(STILLWATER, OKLAHOMA / May 23, 2019) – As water beings to recede, the Emergency Management team is working with Transportation crews to ensure our streets are safe to use before reopening.

Do not remove a barricade from a street at any time, even if the street looks clear of water.

Our Public Works and Transportation teams must first inspect roads after the water recedes to ensure the street is safe to use.

After we inspect the street and deem it safe, a Public Works crew will remove the barricade and notify the Emergency Management team, who will remove it from the list of closures online at http://stillwater.org/road-closing.

Additional rainfall in the coming weeks could exacerbate current flooding conditions and cause more immediate closures.

Our first priority is to ensure we have flooded or uninspected roads closed for safety. We will update our website, social media and the road closure map as often as we can as time permits.

We encourage you to use good judgement and to watch for street conditions when driving.
