(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Stillwater man, who was reportedly a passenger in a vehicle driven by a Perkins man, was arraigned Wednesday on charges of trafficking fentanyl along with possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, court records show.
Brennan Kyce Harry, 24, of Stillwater, remains jailed on $100,000 bail pending an April 3 court appearance on the three-count charge punishable by as much as a life prison term plus two years on conviction.
Harry was arrested at 1 am on March 3 at Highway 51 and Council Valley after a traffic stop on a red Chrysler Sebring driven by Casey Teague (Helfrick), 29, of Perkins, who was charged only with misdemeanor drug possession, court records show.
Stillwater Police Officer Newly McSpadden alleged in an affidavit that on March 2 he was informed “about possible drug activity involving Brennan Harry and Casey Teague (Helfrick). I was informed these two individuals were going to another town to purchase narcotics and bring them back to Stillwater.
“Due to previous surveillance, I am aware the two have been traveling in a red Chrysler Sebring. On March 3, Deputy Sloan with the Payne County Sheriff’s Office, Detective Carson, Moore, Elliott, Sgt. Savory and I were conducting surveillance near the intersection of Hwy. 51 and Hwy. 18,” when at 12:30 am the car traveling west on Hwy. 51 failed to stop behind the stop bar.”
During a traffic stop, when Harry got out of the vehicle, Detective Josh Carson saw a copper-colored metal straw with burnt residue in plain view; “These types of straws are often used to ingest an opiate,” the affidavit alleged.
On the passenger side Detective Carson found a baggy containing 9 round pills with the imprint M 30 — which commonly contain fentanyl, the affidavit alleged. “There was a piece of aluminum foil in the passenger seat area which contained burnt residue along with 1 blue round pill with the imprint M 30. Under the seat, there was a clear zip top baggy containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine,” the affidavit alleged.
A field-test of a small amount of residue in the baggy containing the 9 pills showed positive for fentanyl, the affidavit alleged. The crystal-like substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine, the affidavit alleged.
