(Stillwater, Okla.) — A Stillwater man accused of choking a male relative has been ordered to appear in court Tuesday for arraignment on a felony charge of domestic assault and battery by strangulation.

Danny Leroy Donaldson, 51, who previously lived in Cushing, was released from the Payne County Jail on $5,000 bail with an order to have no contact with his alleged victim, to whom he is related by marriage, court records show.

Donaldson was arrested at a residence on N. Park Drive where both men were then living at 8:42 pm on March 27, about 30 minutes after police were called there about a disturbance, Stillwater Police Officer Josh Rudluff wrote in an affidavit.

“Danny used his arm to choke (the victim) so hard that (the victim) defecated on himself, experienced brief vision and hearing loss, and felt dizzy afterwards,” the affidavit alleged.

The victim “had red marks on the sides of his neck, consistent with his story and the story of his brother,” the affidavit alleged.

“Danny received two scratches on his face from (the victim) trying to get him off of him,” the affidavit alleged.

“Danny was determined to be the dominate aggressor and was arrested at the scene,” the affidavit said.

If convicted of the felony domestic violence charge, Donaldson could be incarcerated for one to three years and fined $3,000, court records show.
