(Stillwater)- Payne County Sheriff Noel Bagwell has issued a warning for area residents to heed the burn ban issued by Governor Brad Henry. The burn ban was issued by the Governor yesterday afternoon, and is in effect statewide until further notice. In a news release from the Payne County Sheriff’s Office, Bagwell reminded area residents that a violation of the burn ban is a misdemeanor and punishable by a fine of up to $500 and up to one year in the county jail. High winds are forecast for the remainder of the week, but there is a chance for precipitation over much of the state beginning late Wednesday through Thursday.
