(Stroud, Okla) — Today, the United States Supreme Court held that for the purposes of the federal Major Crimes Act, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation’s historic reservation remains Indian country.  The Sac and Fox Nation Business Committee applauds this decision.

“Today’s ruling is an important victory.  The decision confirms what we’ve always known: treaties must be honored,” said Principal Chief Justin F. Wood.  “The Supreme Court correctly applied federal law and held that treat rights can’t be ignored.  I commend the Muscogee (Creek) Nation for its work to protect its territorial boundaries.”
