(Cushing, Okla.)  Kerianne Mitchell, a senior at Cushing High School, has wanted to be the Cushing Rodeo Queen since she attended her first Cushing Rodeo when she was just in third grade.  Her love of horses is indicated by the things she participates in – such as showing horses in western pleasure, halter and speed events.

She’s been riding for “10 years and counting” and currently has four that she rides “as much as possible” and loves barrel racing and pole bending.

Kerianne is a member of Cushing FFA, Cushing 4-H, Drumright Round-up Club and the Payne County 4-H horse club.  She also plays French horn in the Cushing High School Band.

Her accolades include attending the NE District 4-H horse show where she placed 4th in halter with her 3-year-old colt, qualifying for the State 4-H Horse Show.

“My colt Lucky Moon Rise – I just call him ‘Moon’ – and I placed 8th for the state in the Geldings 5 years and under class,” Kerianne said.  “I also recently completed at the Okmulgee 4-H Horse Show and placed 1st in Western Pleasure (walk and trot0, 1st in Pole Bending and 3rd in Barrel Racing for my age class on my mare Dandy.”

Her long-term goal is to become a physical therapist.  “I want to help people and animals regain their mobility.”

The proud parents of Kerianne are Troy and Holly Mitchell of Cushing.  She has one brother, Collin Mitchell, 11, and is the granddaughter of Don and Donna Landis also of Cushing.

Kerianne is scheduled to be a guest on the Donna & Molly Show, July 10th at 9 a.m.  Tune in to listen at 1600 KUSH AM radio or via streaming by clicking the Listen Live ad on the News page of this website.
