On Sunday, May 27th, at around 6:56 pm, a Ponca City police officer initiated a short pursuit with a white truck driven by Larry Durbin (DOB: 08-21-77). The pursuit ended when the truck crashed into a fence at the southeast corner of 11th and Ponca. Durbin exited the vehicle and began firing a handgun at the officer. The officer returned fire. A passenger of the truck was shot during the exchange of gunfire and is being treated at a local hospital. No officers were injured. Durbin was taken into custody and a recent mugshot from a previous arrest is attached. The Ponca City Police Chief requested OSBI investigate the incident. Agents are processing the crime scene and interviewing witnesses. Once the investigation is completed, a comprehensive report will be given to the Kay County District Attorney’s Office. The OSBI does not release names of involved officers unless they are charged with a crime.
