Oleta Jane Silkwood (“Dink”), longtime Cushing resident, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008 in Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa.
Services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Cushing and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2008 in the Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park.
She was born February 18, 1936 to Oscar Lee McDaniel and Edith Mae (Hammock) McDaniel of Oilton, OK. She grew up in and around the Oilton area. She married Dale Young in 1950. To this union, one son, Rickie Young was born. She then married Eugene Rush on January 12, 1956. To this union two daughters were born, Linda and Janice Rush. On April 2, 1992 she married Leon Silkwood. They made their home Southwest of Cushing.
Oleta and Leon enjoyed going to listen to music at Ingalls, camping and traveling. Oleta will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Vernon, Howard and Darrell, three sisters: Thelma, Maxine and Imogene, her second husband, Eugene Rush, one son Rickie Young and one daughter Linda Tucker.
She is survived by her husband Leon of the home; one daughter Janice and her husband Jimmy Roberts of Cushing; four step-children Leon Dee Silkwood and his wife Caroline of Canyon City, CO, Leslie Eugene Silkwood of Westcliffe, CO, Dayna Lynn and husband Dr. Joe Hanes of Orlando, FL, and Jr. Silkwood of Cushing; two sisters, Wanda Record of Drumright, Reba and her husband Don Ward of Mannford, sixteen grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Palmer Marler Chapel.
