(Cushing, OK) 149 children participated in this year’s Summer Reading Program at the Cushing Public Library. The children attended 22 classes and events which included: a chance to pet and enjoy exotic animals such as a baby kangaroo, 2 LEGO Builders Workshops, Storyteller Marilyn Hudson, 4 movies: LEGO 2, Nutcracker, Mary Poppins Returns and How to Train your Dragon: Hidden World, chalk art, a puppeteer and magician, a writing class, stories and games, chess instruction, a performance by Spaghetti Eddie, bringing out their creativity by decorating cupcakes, Amazing Christopher and his balloon creations, a carnival and a swim party sponsored by the Rotary Club!

The children read 1,409 books! Total attendance at Library classes and events was 667. Eli Deaton and Teagan Williams were the Top Readers. Sadie Maxwell and Eli Deaton won the drawing for a personalized “Read” poster.

The Summer Reading Program was sponsored by the Institute of Museums and Libraries, Oklahoma Department of Libraries, Cushing Public Library, Friends of the Cushing Public Library, Amy Cline, Misty Crouse, Carol Arwen (in honor of Trudi Cooper), Carrie Hanes, Michael Hanes, Bridget Mason, the Charles Whittom Family, the Steve Williams Family and the Cushing Rotary Club.
