Louise Ethridge went to be with her or Jesus Christ on December 6, 2011 after a brief illness. Louise was born in Stroud, OK on Dec. 25, 1926 and lived her entire life in Stroud as a successful homemaker, mother, teacher, rancher and businesswoman. Louise was a founding member of the Maranatha Christian Center In Stroud.
She was preceded in death by her husband Keith Ethridge, Stroud, OK; Parents, Bill and Opal Vickery, Stroud, OK; and a brother Ray Vickery, Stroud, OK. Luise is survived by sister and broth-in-law Billie and Larry Kramer, Canon City, Co and her children, Don and Mary Ann Ethridge, Cushing, OK; Sherry and Bob Ellis, Horseshoe Bay, TX; Randy and Kay Ethridge, Stroud, OK; and Mary Gail and Bill Cain, Edmond, OK.
One of Louise’s greatest joys was the time she regularly shared with her 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “GG”. as a young adult, Louise taught grade school in a one room school house near Stroud. Louise also worked for Oklahoma Natural Gas Company for 24 years as a customer service representative. Over the past 19 years, Louise served as a board member for Central Rural Electric Cooperative(CREC) and recently retired from her position in May 2011.
In addition, Louise represented Stroud and Lincoln County in numerous leadership roles including the County Health Board, American Legion, Farm Services Agency Board of Directors, and was honored by the Future Farmers of America (FFA) for her support.
Louise was dearly loved by all her family and friends and was an amazing role model to everyone who knew her. Her love for Jesus Christ was demonstrated by her charity and love for other people. As Louise reminded us the night before she left -“I will see you on the other side!” In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Maranatha Christian Center or Cushing First Baptist Church, Building Fund.
Funeral Service will be held at the Maranatha Christian Church in Stroud, Oklahoma at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 10, 2011 with Randy Ethridge and LaRoi Woods officiating. Burial will be in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Service In Stroud, Oklahoma.
