(Cushing, Okla.) Local photographers Tom and Lynda Cummings shared a slide show with Cushing Rotarians on Thursday, May 18, 2011. The show included some “grizzly” photos – of the bear kind.
Camera equipment in hand, the Cummings made a trip to Alaska last year with four fellow photographers to shoot Kodiak Grizzly bears.
In spite of being rainy all six days of their trip, “It was a terrific experience,” Tom said.
The weather presented a problem to the photographers, but they came away with some stunning shots of the notorious bears. Lynda was even able to catch a chase of two bears on video, which was also shared with the group.
Other photos included the remarkable scenery Alaska is noted for, as well as a photo of an eagle that Tom is especially proud. That photo will be included as one of the auction items available at this year’s Habitat for Humanity Gala which will be held next week.
Tom said they are hoping to return to Katmai and Kodiak island to shoot the bears during salmon season.
The Cummings recently returned from a trip to Africa and will be sharing those photos in the near future.
