Linda Kay Stafford, age 55 of Sand Springs and formerly of Yale, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at St. John’s Medical Center, Tulsa, Ok.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale, Oklahoma and will be held Monday, August 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of God, Yale, Oklahoma with burial to follow in the Lawson Cemetery, Yale, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Yale, OK.
Linda was born on January 20, 1956 in Yale, Oklahoma to the late Jess and Mae (Graham) Stafford. She grew up in Yale and attended Quay Elementary school. At age 16, she attended Enid State School until 1972. She moved to the Stillwater Group Home for a few years before settling at The Springs Group Home in Sand Springs for 22 years. She worked at O.S.U. Medical Center in Tulsa for a couple of years, previously working at other various jobs. On visits with her family, she enjoyed attending Fellowship Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church in Pawnee. Linda was active on various bowling leagues and received numerous trophies. She always competed in Special Olympics competitions. Linda loved watching WWE and listening to country music. She enjoyed traveling to Nashville, Branson and Texas, just to name a few. Linda loved people, she never met a stranger and always remembered them.
Linda is survived by her brothers Nelson Stafford and wife June of Thayer, Ks., Murl Stafford and wife Betty of Azle, Tx., Joe Stafford and wife Joyce of Hammond, La., Jim Stafford and wife Wanda of Yale, sisters Evelyn Snyder and husband Terry of Moore, Donna Mullins of Ft. Worth, Tx., and Janis Day and husband Bob of Maramec, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Chuck Mullins.
