(Cushing, Okla) – Saturday’s rains have done little to stem the tide of grassfires in the area, with Cushing Firefighters called to a blaze this morning near Texaco and Harmony Road. Cushing is currently working a mutual aid call with the Yale Fire Dept. at McElroy and Battle Ridge Road (northwest of Yale).
Several fire departments are also working a blaze near Terlton in Pawnee County.
A statewide burn ban is in effect, issued last week by Governor Mary Fallin. The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch, meaning conditions for wild fires are extreme.
