(Cushing, Okla.) It’s the most wonderful time of the year for folks in the Cimarron Valley – Girl Scout Cookie time!
Champion for Girl Scouts and local leader with Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma, Tracy Nelson, will be a guest on KUSH radio’s HOME with the KUSH Girls Friday morning at 9 o’clock. No doubt she will make listeners’ mouths water for their favorite Girls Scout cookie!
Girl Scouts all over the nation will be out selling cookies. In our area sales begin on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2019. You’ll be seeing them in their vests or sashes, in groups or with a parent. When you do, you will know Peanut Butter Patties, Caramel deLites, the ever-popular Thin Mints – and more – are near by! But here are some things you might not see or know, along with some tips when making your Girls Scout Cookie purchase:
“Picture the hours troop leaders spend coaching girls on money management, sales pitches, goal setting, and professionalism.
Imagine the card in a girl’s handwriting and taped up by her bed that reminds her how many boxes she needs to sell to get to camp this summer.
Consider the pounding heart of a girl who gets nervous talking to strangers and the big smile that lights up her face when she realizes she’s GOT this.
So when you see her, smile and say hello.
Buy a few boxes, or donate some.
Ask her about her cookie goal.
Ask her about her badges.
Ask her what she’s learning.
But let her do the math.
Let her give her sales pitch.
Be patient while she counts the money.”

Girl Scouts are “2.6 million strong—1.8 million girls and 800,000 adults who believe in the power of every G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)™ to change the world.”
