(Stillwater, Okla.) — Former Oklahoma State University wrestler Albert James Ferrari Jr. was charged Wednesday morning with sexual battery following an investigation by the Stillwater Police Department, which had issued a press release about the matter last month.
An arrest warrant was issued this morning for Ferrari, 21, of Stillwater, against whom a woman had obtained an emergency protective order on July 5.
In her petition, a Stillwater woman alleged, “I was with five of my friends at the bars on the strip. When I decided to leave, I started to walk home alone to a friend’s house. Albert drove to my friend’s house as well. He showed up after I had arrived.
“He was eating and talking about the devil and selling souls. Not too long after that, all of my friends started to leave the house — I stayed a little longer with a friend, and then Albert drove me home. I told Albert to drop me off but insisted he come inside to make sure I was safe. He then parked inside the parking garage and then came inside.
“We started wrestling, playing around and then Albert wanted to take shots. However, I never saw him actually take a drink. He said he was drunk and asked to stay the night because he had to get up early. I told Albert he could sleep on the sofa, but he never got on the sofa. He started following me around as I told him over and over to go to the sofa.
“He then came into my room despite me asking him not to and began taking off his clothing and getting into my bed. When he got into my bed, I told him to not get any ideas because I didn’t want to do anything with him. I went and changed my clothing in the bathroom and laid facing the wall, put a pillow between us facing away from him.”
She alleged in her EPO petition, “I told him to stop! He didn’t say anything — he just kept smirking…I told him to stop again, and he said that I was strong and put up a good fight. He kept trying to kiss me, and I kept moving my face…I asked him to stop over and over. He had my left arm pinned down…After he finished, he went into the bathroom to get a towel to clean himself…He dropped the towel near my bed, and I went into the bathroom and sat in there for a while before coming back into the room.
“When I got back into the room, he was asleep in my bed. I laid down as well and went to sleep. In the morning, I woke up and went into the bathroom, and when I came back out, Albert was having a fight with his dad on the phone…Albert got mad at me for not setting an alarm for him. He left about 8:20 am.
“I called my best friend and told her what happened. She came to my apartment and then I called my mom. After I packed my clothing and went to my friend’s and then showered a few hours after because I was scared…After I showered, I sat on the sofa almost all day and I decided to call the police,” after which a Stillwater police officer came to take a report while she was at her friend’s house.
“After that, we met at my apartment,” where a Stillwater police detective “started taking pictures and gathered evidence,” after which she went to the hospital for a sexual assault examination, she wrote in her EPO petition. “I went home after an officer came to get the sweater I was wearing before I showered.
“If this EPO was granted, I would feel protected…He takes everything to social media. I know he will try to contact me,” she concluded in her EPO petition, which listed Ferrari’s height as 6′ and weight as 197.
A police news release was issued on July 13: “On Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 4 pm, the Stillwater Police Department responded to a report of a sexual assault investigation that occurred within our jurisdiction. The suspect in the case has been identified as Albert James Ferrari Jr. The case is currently under investigation by our Criminal Investigation’s Unit. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be submitted to the Payne County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of filing charges.”
