There’s a saying, “Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.  Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.”  Beginning tomorrow, Saturday, July11th, First Christain Church, 300 E. Moses in Cushing, will start a new ministry – teaching the basics of cooking.

During these tough economic times, folks are looking for ways to stretch their food dollars.  It’s been reported that because of society’s heavy reliance on convenience foods, many are left wondering what to do with such staples as flour, sugar, pasta, rice, etc.  While convenience foods are indeed convenient – they are not usually cost effective.

First Christian Church will be teaching students how to cook from scratch – including basics such as chopping, mixing and baking.  Menu items are: spaghetti, meatloaf, barbecue chicken, bread, jelly and will also include nutrition tips.

Classes will be held from 10 a.m. until noon every Saturday in July and August.  Class size is limited, so please call 918-225-4484 to make your reservation.
