Wilson students will be celebrating Dr. Seuss throughout the week of March 1st – 5th. Read Across America, an annual event that honors the late, great Dr. Seuss and the joy of reading, was kicked off on Monday, March 1st. Students constructed hats for Seuss Hat Day with the featured story being The Cat in the Hat.
Students began daily reading with their parents on Feb. 26th to earn “points tickets” to be turned in each day to their teacher. Reading progress is being tracked on a big red thermometer in the gym. If students get enough reading points, Ms. Autumn will kiss a goat at the Friday assembly!
Tuesday, March 2nd will be “Who Hair Day” where one may witness a wide variety of Who hair throughout the school. Students will also enjoy a Seuss story and a Birthday Parade and a birthday cake treat during snack time for Dr. Seuss’s birthday.
Wednesday at Wilson will be “Pajama Day” where students will enjoy listening to the book Green Eggs and Ham and may even experience eating some green eggs and ham at snack time!
Thursday is Wacky Outfit Day. Each classroom will feature a special guest reader with a Seuss story.
The week will end with Silly Sock Day and a special visit from Representative Lee Denney. Rep. Denney will read a Seuss story during the assembly. Hopefully, Wilson students will reach their reading points goal and get to watch Ms. Autumn “pucker up” and give a goat a “great big kiss!”
It should be a fun week at Wilson Pre-K, as well as other local schools, celebrating the birth of Dr. Seuss.
