(Stillwater, Okla.) — A 63-year-old Cushing man, who was arrested Nov. 12 on a felony charge accusing him of sexually abusing a young relative in 2016, has been scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday with an attorney.
Steven Lynn Anderson, who has been ordered to have no contact with his alleged victim, remains jailed on $120,000 total bail, since his bondsman recommitted him last week on a 2023 charge of being a felon in possession of guns, driving on a suspended license in Cushing and possessing methamphetamine, court records show.
Regarding his child sexual abuse charge that carries a possible life prison term on conviction, Anderson allegedly had told his young relative in 2016 “not to tell because he would go to jail,” Cushing Police Detective Jerrod Livergood wrote in an affidavit.
The girl told an officer, “She had told her parents about it when it occurred in 2016 when she was about 9 years old although she told them she wasn’t ready to talk about it,” the affidavit alleged. She said “that her mother encouraged her to talk about it when she was ready,” the affidavit alleged.
Now that she is older, she said she would like to press charges, the affidavit alleged.
