  (Stillwater, Okla.) — A Cushing man avoided a jury trial this week by pleading guilty to exposing his private parts to a clerk at a convenience store across the street from the Cushing Senior Citizens’ Center last fall.
    Shannan Lee Teegarden, 56, who has a history of methamphetamine-related convictions, was sentenced on July 7 by District Judge Phillip Corley to one year in jail followed by nine years of probation and ordered to register as a sex offender.
    Teegarden was arrested at 12:04 pm the day before Halloween of 2022 at a convenience store in the 200 block of E. Cherry Street, Cushing Police Officer Christopher Haywood wrote in an affidavit.
    The officer had been sent there at 11:57 am regarding a report of a male making sexual advances and exposing himself, the affidavit said.
    A clerk said, “Teegarden had come inside the store and was acting strange,” the affidavit said. The clerk said Teegarden “asked her if she would have sex with him,” the affidavit said. She said, “she asked Teegarden many times to leave,” which he did do briefly before returning and exposing himself, the affidavit said.
    A customer said Teegarden asked if she wanted to have sex with him, the affidavit said. The customer said Teegarden did not expose himself to her, but when she was leaving, he came over to her vehicle and asked for a ride to a store a block away, the affidavit said.
    The customer said, “she told Teegarden many times no and that he should walk,” the affidavit said. She said he asked her again to have sex with him and when she told him no, he got in her vehicle and asked if he could touch her, the affidavit said. She said, “Teegarden did get back out of her vehicle, and she left and Teegarden was going back inside the store,” the affidavit said.
    According to court records and the state Department of Corrections, Teegarden had previously been convicted of:
    * methamphetamine possession in Drumright in 2013 for which he was initially placed on 10 years’ probation with the Creek County Drug Court program, but after he was terminated in 2017 for multiple violations, he was given a six-year prison term of which he served about two years before his release in January of 2019;
    * methamphetamine possession in Cushing in 2015 for which he was given a concurrent six-year prison term to the above sentence in 2017;
    * domestic abuse in Ada in 2016 for which he was given a four-year prison term concurrent to both above sentences in 2017;
    * methamphetamine possession and endeavoring to manufacture methamphetamine in Drumright in 2010 for which he was given a consecutive two-year prison term to the following sentence;
    * possession of a precursor to manufacture methamphetamine in Drumright in 2006, for which he was initially given a five-year probationary sentence that was revoked in 2007 to a five-year prison term with the Bill Johnson Drug Offender Work Camp, but that was modified in 2009 to five years’ probation, which was revoked in 2010 to one year in prison;
    * possession of a substance with intent to manufacture methamphetamine in Payne County in 2005 for which he was given in 2009 a five-year probationary sentence.
