The Cushing Chamber of Commerce Business After School reception was held Monday, October 26, 2015. Business After School is a Chamber program that honors Cushing’s education community.

Each month, one educator, one support staff and two high school seniors are honored and the reception is held at 4 p.m. in the Cushing Chamber of Commerce board room on the last Monday of each month (with the exception of September and December). Receptions are open to the public.

The October honorees were: Sharon Sissom, CMS teacher; Pam Walters,Pre-K support personnel; Ribbin Anderson, CHS senior and Kyler Patterson, CHS senior.

A little bit about the honorees:

Sharon Sissom teaches Language Arts at Cushing Middle School. She has been married to Kevin for 26 years and they have two daughters, Nicki and Bailey who live in Cushing. She also has five grandchildren. Her interests include reading, exercising and spending time with her smar, beautiful grandkids. Her favorite food is Hideaway Supreme Pizza and would love to take a trip to Australia.

Pam Walters is a Pre-K assistant teacher in Donna Shaw’s classroom. Pam is married to Jimmie Walters and they have two daughters, Jennifer and Kayley. She is a Cushing High School alum and has worked in early childhood education for many years, with this being her fifth year at Cushing Pre-K. Her hobbies and interests include spending time at the gym, activities with her family and cooking.

Ribbin Anderson, CHS senior, lives with guardians Chad and Christa Short and five siblings. She is involved with fast and slow-pitch softball, running track and serving as a mat maid for the high school wrestling team. Ribbin is active in “Tomorrow’s Leaders” and has represented CHS at the 2015 American Legion Oklahoma Girls State, along with being a state qualifier in slow-pitch, softball and track. Her favorite food is pizza. In five years, Ribbin sees herself graduating college with a nursing degree and has a desire to help victims of domestic abuse.

Kyler Patterson, CHS senior, is the son of Barry and Karla Patterson. He has two brothers, Jarrod and Louden. His favorite food is steak and enjoys hanging out with his football buddies. Kyler’s interest includes baseball, football and lifting weights. He really enjoys pitching and plans on doing that at the college level. Kyler sees himself in five years getting close to graduating college and obtaining a job.
