(Cushing, Okla.) The Cushing Chamber of Commerce Business After School honoring March’s recipients was held on Monday, March 30, 2015. Business After School is a Chamber program that honors Cushing’s education community.
Each month, one educator, one support staff and two high school seniors are honored. A reception is held at 4 p.m. in the Cushing Chamber of Commerce board room the last Monday of each school month (with the exception of September and December). Receptions are open to the public.
Those honored for the month of March were: Kent Hancock, teacher; Tami Hoggatt, support staff, Hannah-Beth Link, CHS senior and Lucas Bassham, CHS senior.
A little bit about the honorees:
Kent Hancock is a sixth grade science teacher at Cushing Middle School. He is married to his wife Betty and they have two children. Kent is president of the Cushing Classroom Teachers Association and he enjoys golf, travel, yardwork and watching sports on tv.
Tami Hoggatt has been a teacher’s assistant at Wilson school for over 10 years and is the current manager of the Child Enrichment Program at Wilson school. Tami and her husband Danny have three children and four grandchildren. She likes going to garage sales, loves the OKC Thunder and participates in Relay for Life activities. Tami stated she really enjoys going to work every day with a wonderful group of people.
Hannah-Beth Link, CHS senior, is the daughter of Landon and Kristi Link. Her interests and activities include being a part of the Oak Grove Baptist Church Youth Ministry and dancing with Dance Star Productions. Her favorite food is pizza and enjoys spending time with her friends and family.
Lucas Bassham, CHS senior, is the son of Shawn and Cynthia Bassham. Lucas is a leadership student for the youth at Oak Grove Baptist Church as well as the bass guitarist. He likes to hang out with friends or go to the movies and making people laugh. Lucas’ favorite food is pizza. When asked where he sees himself in five years, he stated, “graduating college and starting a career I will enjoy for the rest of my life.”
