(Cushing, Okla.) The following information is based on a preliminary collision report furnished by the Department of Public Safety (DPS).
A fatality collision occurred May 16th (2018) at approximately 12:23 pm on the Turner Turnpike eastbound at mile marker 217, ½ mile south west of 96th street in Sapulpa, in Creek County.
Paul Anthony Hutchison, (46) of Pawnee, was driving a 2006 Freight-liner pulling a flatbed trailer, eastbound on the Turner Turnpike, when a concrete riser fell from the flatbed trailer. The Freight-liner then pulled to the shoulder and stopped. Arthur E. O’Connor (77) of Bristow was driving a 2007 Chrysler Minivan when he attempted to avoid the concrete riser. O’Connor lost control, swerved to the right and entered into a broad slide before hitting the trailer of the Freight-liner.
Hutchison was not injured. O’Connor was transported by Creek County EMS to St. Johns Hospital (Sapulpa) where he was pronounced dead.
According to the DPS report the collision was caused by debris in the road.
