(Stillwater, Okla.) – An arrest warrant was issued Friday for a Cushing man accused of possessing a 9 mm pistol on July 10 in Cushing after having prior drug convictions in Payne County.
David Jesse Baxter, 32, was not in the Payne County Jail on Monday, a sheriff’s spokesman told KUSH.
If convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm, Baxter could be given as much as a 10-year prison term and a $10,000 fine, court records show.
According to court records, Baxter was placed on 15 years’ probation in 2011 for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute — with an order to enroll in and successfully complete the Payne County Drug Court program from which he was terminated after four months. In 2016, Baxter was found in violation of his probation and ordered to serve nine months in jail, court records show.
Baxter had also been placed on five years’ probation for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute in 2008, court records show.
In 2016, Baxter had also been placed on two years’ probation except nine months in jail for possessing marijuana in 2015, court records show. Baxter was accused of violating the terms of his probation, but when he failed to appear in court on Sept. 25, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest in that case.
