(Stillwater, Okla.) — A 63-year-old Cushing man has been charged with repeatedly sexually abusing a 16-year-old female relative at his residence.
Thomas Wayne Spencer has been ordered jailed on $150,000 bail pending a court appearance this week at which he can seek a preliminary hearing on the felony charge punishable by as much as a life prison term on conviction.
Spencer was arrested at 11:54 am on Aug. 30 by Cushing Police Detective Jerrod Livergood, according to an affidavit filed with the child sexual abuse charge last week.
After the girl’s mother became suspicious, on Aug. 3 she gave police some notes from a therapist to whom the girl “disclosed some alarming information,” the affidavit alleged.
On Aug. 21, the girl’s mother provided additional documentation from the therapist including that Spencer had thrown some sex toys “out of the window on a dirt road to get rid of the evidence,” the affidavit alleged.
“With the help of Payne County Deputy Scott Hopper, the bag was located and collected as evidence,” the affidavit alleged.
On Aug. 24, the girl was interviewed at the Saville Child Advocacy Center in Stillwater where she disclosed that Spencer had sex with her since she turned 16, the affidavit alleged.
On Aug. 30 when Spencer voluntarily came to the Cushing Police Department as requested, he denied any sexual activity with the girl “during the first several minutes of the interview,” the affidavit alleged.
After the detective collected Spencer’s DNA with a search warrant, he told him that a sack with sex toys in it was found and that the girl had disclosed the sexual activity in detail, Spencer said that he was having consensual sex with the girl, the affidavit alleged.
When Spencer was shown a photograph of a sack that reportedly contained sex toys, Spencer admitted “he did throw it out of the window,” the affidavit alleged.
The girl’s mother has obtained an emergency protective order against Spencer on behalf of the girl, court records show.
