The most common symptoms are loud snoring, daytime sleepiness, morning headaches, depression, restless leg syndrome, high blood pressure and insomnia. Some of the causes of sleep apnea are obesity, enlarged tonsils, large neck circumference, allergies, smoking, and nasal passage obstruction. If left untreated, some of the disadvantages of sleep apnea are decreased productivity, frequent doctor visits, decreased alertness, increased risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Also it can lead to sexual dysfunction, poor sleep quality, poor job performance, and fatigue.
