Cushing man jailed on domestic violence charge

   STILLWATER — A 21-year-old Cushing man accused of choking his girlfriend has been jailed on $15,000 bond pending his arraignment this week on a felony domestic violence charge.

   If convicted of domestic assault and battery by strangulation, Hayden Lee Stiles could be given as much as a 10-year prison terms plus a $20,000 fine, according to court documents filed last week.

   Cushing Police Officer Sara Reynolds alleged in affidavit that she was sent at 6:05 am on Sept. 13 to a house where the victim “advised that her boyfriend, Hayden Stiles, was holding her hostage for the last two hours and that her face was busted.

   “Dispatch advised EMS had also been started as a precautionary measure… (She) was loaded into the ambulance and transported to Hillcrest Hospital Cushing.

   “She told me that her and Hayden had been broken up for approximately a week, but he was wanting to come over and talk. She said Hayden got off work early this morning, and it was raining so she did not want to make him walk.

   “She said she got to (his workplace) and picked Hayden up around 3 to 3:30 am and brought him back to her relative’s house. She said Hayden kept hearing rumors from a female he works with that she was cheating on him.

   “She said Hayden took a pill called ‘Blend,’ and got himself worked up and mad while talking about the rumors. She said he kept asking her if she was cheating and while holding her phone.

   “She said she tried to leave the bedroom, but Hayden kept pushing her down onto the bed…She told me he would squeeze her neck before pushing her down onto the bed. She said at one point, Hayden was on top of her strangling her.

   “She also told me that Hayden had pushed her into the bathroom door and banged her head against a shelf that her perfume sits on. When it happened, she felt like she was going to lose consciousness and laid on the floor for approximately three minutes unable to move or talk.

   “I asked her what happened after she was able to get up, and she told me she had gone to the bathroom, coughing up blood. When she stepped out of the bathroom, Hayden was standing in front of the mirror beating himself up. She said he was scratching his own neck.

   “She also told me that during the heat of the moment, Hayden had punched her so hard in both of her legs that it shot numbness up them. I asked her how it was that she finally got away from Hayden, and she told me that she asked him for a glass of water because she was hot and couldn’t breathe.

   “Hayden supposedly told her that he would get it for her, but she better not try anything. She wasn’t sure if he heard her bedroom door open or if he was already on his way back, but she had walked out of the bedroom and met him in the hallway.

   “She said Hayden then shoved her back down to the floor in the living room, and that is when (another person) heard the commotion, came out of the kitchen and told Hayden to stop. That is when she got up, ran to (her relative’s) bedroom and called for the police.

   “She said that is when Hayden took her phone and shattered it, took her vape and left on foot. She also told me that Hayden made a comment that if she woke up her relative, she would regret it and kill her.

   “I collected pictures of her injuries, which included a light bruise on her right side, a light bruise to the right arm, red marks on both sides of her neck, her right eye which was bruised, and an injury to the inside of her top lip,” the Cushing police officer alleged in her affidavit.
