Stillwater man jailed on gun, cruelty & domestic violence charges

 STILLWATER — A Stillwater man, who was adjudicated as a delinquent at age 16, became so angry when he was awakened with a demand to get a job that he kicked the family dog and punched a relative in the mouth, according to allegations in court records.

   Kevin Joseph Mann, 19, was ordered jailed on $7,500 bond pending an Aug. 3 court appearance at which he can seek a preliminary hearing.

   If convicted of possessing a Taurus G2C handgun after adjudication as a delinquent child for assault with a dangerous weapon, Mann could be imprisoned for as long as 10 years. If convicted of animal cruelty along with domestic assault and battery, Mann could be incarcerated for up to six years and fined $10,000.

   Mann was arrested at the family residence on July 8 at 11:16 am after Stillwater Police Officer Andrew Wilson was sent there at 11:10 am on a report of domestic violence, according to an affidavit filed with the three-count charge last week.

   A relative “had woken Kevin up with a demand for him to find a job. Kevin became angry and started arguing, which caused the family dog to get aggressive towards him.

   “The Chihuahua mix dog bit Kevin on the ankle and/or feet, which made him angry at the dog.

   “Kevin retaliated against the dog by kicking it several times,” in the presence of two relatives, the affidavit alleged.

   Mann punched a relative in the mouth which “resulted in bleeding and loosening of at least one front tooth:” he also struck the relative on the left side of the forehead, the affidavit alleged.
