On Wednesday, August 20, 2014, Cushing Public Schools, will kick off another school year. In attempts to ensure the safety of our students, parents, and motoring public, the Cushing Police Department will have an increased law enforcement presence throughout our community.

Officers will be highly visible throughout our community enforcing traffic laws, which are designed to target speeders, aggressive drivers, and those failing to stop for school buses.

Chief Tully Folden said, “We would like to encourage everyone to plan ahead and allow extra time for your morning commute, as everyone adjusts to their new routine.”

Cushing police officers will specifically target the 25 M.P.H. school zone in the 1500 – 2200 blocks E. Main Street, and the 20 M.P.H. school zone in the 400 – 600 blocks S. Little Avenue.

In preparation for the first day of school, the City Electric Department will activate the school zone lights on Main Street today August 18, 2014. “Although these zone will not be enforced until Wednesday, we wanted to the motoring public to get use to the posted speed zone,” Chief Folden said.***
