(Cushing, Okla.) The Cushing Chamber of Commerce Business After School held their last monthly reception for the school year on May 5, 2014. Business After School is a Chamber program that honors Cushing’s education community.
Each month, one educator, one support staff, and two high school seniors are honored. A reception is held at 4 p.m. in the Chamber of Commerce board room on the last Monday of each school month (with the exception of September and December). Receptions are open to the public.
This month’s honorees were Tracy Palmer, teacher; Lori Bradley, support personnel; CHS senior, Gage Stallworth; and CHS senior, Alina Pavlishinets.
Tracy Palmer is a teacher at Sunnyside and has been married to Jason Palmer for 21 years. They have three children: Dylan, Dawson, and Dane. She attends LifeChurch, enjoys taking pictures, scrapbooking and watching her boys play sports. Tracy said she would love to go to Paris in the summertime and her greatest joy as a teacher has been receiving notes from past students thanking her for helping them.
Lori Bradley is a Teacher Assistant at Deep Rock Elementary. She has been married to her husband, Gary and they have two sons Gary W., Dusty, a daughter Kristi and a son-in-law Weston. Lori loves to take photos and scrapbook them with her daughter. She attends First Baptist Church in Cushing where she teaches 7th grade girls and has been very active in serving with Vacation Bible School and Falls Creek. Her biggest joy is watching some of the kindergartners and first graders as they figure out new words. “It’s like the world is brand new to them and their faces light up.”
Gage Stallworth, CHS senior, likes to hang out with friends, longboarding and playing frisbee golf in his free time. His favorite food is steak (cooked medium rare). When asked to humbly say something he does really well, he replied, “I’m kind of good at wrestling.” In the next five years, he sees himself in his senior year of college at OU.
Alina Pavlishinets, CHS senior, enjoys reading and playing computer games. Her favorite food is corn dogs. She would love to spend the day with Tolstoy because she likes his books. Alina plays the flute really well and in five years she sees herself working on her master’s degree.
