(New York, NY) – GRAMMY®-nominated singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Seth Glier took home three Independent Music Awards on Saturday, March 31 at the 16th annual awards ceremony held at Lincoln Center. The triple win not only scored the most judge’s votes of the evening – tied only by actor/musician Reeve Carney (Spider Man: Turn Off The Dark, Penny Dreadful) – but it marked Glier’s fifth total award from the organization.
His critically acclaimed 2017 album Birds won in the following categories : Best Album, Folk-Singer/Songwriter – Birds; Best Song, Folk-Singer/Songwriter – “Like I Do” and Best Producer, Pop Album – Steve Lunt and Seth Glier (Birds).

Glier states, “Thanks to the IMAs not only for the three awards but for continuing to champion and shine a spotlight on independent artists around the world. The process of making Birds was intimate and a bit unconventional. Making it wasn’t (as much) about commerce as it was about healing my heart after losing my brother and grasp upon the world. It feels so good to see that ‘wandering’ recognized. Special thanks to producer Steve Lunt for being my companion and cohort. These ones are for you, Jamie”.
The loss of Glier’s severely autistic brother Jamie in 2015 was the partial inspiration behind the writing and songs on Birds. He also tackled a range of deeper issues on the album as well, from fracking and the death penalty (“Water On Fire”, “Justice For All”) to personal longing (“I’m Still Looking”) and loss (“Hasn’t Hit Me Yet”). Glier included his own searingly intense cover of Buffalo Springfield’s still-timely protest anthem, “For What It’s Worth”, which perfectly reflects our current social and global unrest.
While on his national headlining tour supporting Birds, Glier performed on NPR’s Mountain Stage, appeared on numerous TV/radio shows and recorded a live session at Daytrotter that features a powerful version of his winning song, “Like I Do”. Glier is currently working with The U.S. State Department and American Music Abroad to participate in a cultural diplomacy tour of Mongolia, China, and Ukraine for the month of April.
