
(Stillwater) - Southwest Jiatong University of China, the first university in China has signed an exchange student agreement with Oklahoma State University. SJU and OSU have agreed to have Chinese exchange students come to Stillwater's OSU campus and SJU will receive students from OSU for study on their campus.
Dr. Marlene Strathe the OSU Executive Vice President, and Chunyang Chen President of Southwest Jiatong University signed the agreement during a ceremony on the OSU campus on February 19. This agreement allows more students from SJU to come to Oklahoma and study on the OSU campus.
Also attending the ceremony were five representatives from SJU, Hongyun He, Director of The Research Center of Intelligent Control and Simulation, Shibin Gao, Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering, Yanjun Qiu, Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Yanlin Zhao, Director of the President's Office, and Kaiyin Yan, Director of the Undergraduate Office.
Dr. Lee Bird, OSU Vice President for Student Affairs, and Dr. Mark Weiser, Associate Dean and professor in the Spears School of Business , have traveled to the SJU campus twice. They met with and worked with SJU's administrators to make the student exchange program possible. The visiting delegation also met with OSU president Burns Hargis, and administrators of the Spears School of Business.
