
(Stillwater) - A Stillwater Man has been charged with four counts of shooting with intent to kill, after police responded to a call about gunshots in a north Stillwater mobile home park.
Police say on the evening of January 24, 2010 at approximately 11:19 p.m. The Stillwater Police Department responded to a call about multiple gunshots fired at The Y Mobile Home Park located at 1900 north Washington. When officers arrived in the area they approached the mobile home park. Upon arriving on scene the officers heard several gunshots being fired. As the officers approached the scene, the suspect, identified as Ferlin Lee Vaughn, 47, of Stillwater fired several rounds at the officers. The patrol officers returned Vaughn's fire, striking Vaughn in the torso area. Vaughn was taken into custody and transferred to Stillwater Hospital and later transported to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa.
The incident is currently being investigated by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and The Stillwater Police Department Criminal Investigation unit.
On January 27, 2010 Vaughn was formally charged by Payne County District Attorney Robert L. Hudson on five felony charges of shooting with intent to kill. Each count is punishable with up to life in prison. On January 23, 2010 Vaughn allegedly fired shots at several Stillwater Police Officers including Officer Ricardo Inciarte. After Vaughn fired shots at Inciarte and his partner, Inciarte returned fire, striking Vaughn, and Vaughn was then taken into custody. None of the Stillwater Police Officers involved were injured in this incident.
