(Stillwater) - The "No Child Left Behind" federal legislation requires all students in the Stillwater Public School District to meet certain criteria each school year. All students in grades three through twelve received their test results in the fall. Each child's individual results are compiled into a report, based on the school district and each school in the district.

When the Oklahoma State Department of Education released the final test scores of students in the Stillwater Public School district, not only did the students meet all of the requirements but the exceeded in all categories, not only as a district but at each individual school.

Stillwater Public Schools Superintendent Ann Caine, Ed.D. in her message about the outstanding test results was quoted as saying "This is a huge achievement and our students and staff are to be commended for their hard work last year."

Oklahoma uses the Academic Performance Index (API) for accountability for each school district and each school within that district. The API is computed using these seven indicators:

Reading language arts and math results from state-mandated tests

ACT scores and the percentage of students participating.

Advanced placement credit and college remediation rates in both reading and math.

Attendance, dropout and graduation rates

State Target Stillwater Public Schools API

MATH API-932 MATH API-1413

READING API-914 READING API-1437

GRADUATION RATE- 67.8% GRADUATION RATE-79.8%

ATTENDANCE RATE-91.2% ATTENDAMCE RATE-94.7%

The Stillwater Public School District's API is 1388 on a scale of 0-1500, and each school individual API ranges from 1253 to 1452.

Caine's goal is to see the Stillwater Public School District reach the perfect API goal of 1500, saying in her statement, "This is very achievable due to our excellent students and staff. Is this a lofty goal? Yes. Can we do it? Yes!"
