(Stillwater)John Phillip Ward, 69, was charged on July 15, 2010 with 16 sex crimes in Payne County District Court. Ward is alleged to have committed the various crimes between 2003 and 2010. The crimes include 2 counts of rape in the first degree, two counts of rape by instrumentation, 3 counts of lewd acts with a child under 16, 5 counts of forcible oral sodomy, 2 counts of incest, one count of soliciting a minor child to perform child pornography, and one count of possession of child pornography. Ward appeared before Special District Judge Phillip C. Corley on July 15, 2010 without council and was given an application for a court appointed attorney. Ward's application was approved on July 20, 2010 for a court appointed attorney and Debra Vincent was appointed. On July 21, 2010 Ward plead not guilty and the case was moved to August 9, 2010.
