(Stillwater, Okla.) -- A Stillwater man who told police "he just lost it when he was spanking" his 6-year-old son with a leather belt has been placed on probation for five years, fined $500, and ordered to perform 50 hours of community service within one year.
When the boy was taken to the Stillwater Medical Center emergency room by his mother, he had "multiple red, swollen and bruising welts on his arms, chest, stomach, back, legs (front and back) and buttocks, a police affidavit said.
Jeremy Joseph Nealy, 31, who pleaded guilty to injury to a minor child, was also ordered to take a parenting education course and an anger management class -- which he told the judge last week that he had completed.
The boy's mother, who does not live with Nealy, said she had made arrangements with him "to watch their boys before and after school while she was working," the affidavit said.
When the incident occurred on Sept. 16, 2009, "This was the first day he had the boys," who were then age 6 and 7, the mother told police, according to an affidavit.
